NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Washington, DC. Commissioned Jay to create a story in celebration of their 50th anniversary. 2008

Steel Festival, The Art of an Industry Jay O'Callahan premiered his story "Pouring the Sun". Lehigh University commissioned him to write this story about the community and Bethlehem Steel. 1999

New England Aquarium This Boston aquarium invited Jay to perform "The Spirit of the Great Auk" as part of the evening The Wonder and Mystery of the Sea. 1999

National Theatre Complex, London Jay O'Callahan represented American Storytelling at the Third International Storytelling Festival in London. 1989

Lincoln Center Jay O'Callahan told "Politics" and "The Herring Shed" at his Lincoln Center debut in an evening called "The Raconteurs." 1988

National Endowment for the Arts fellowship: solo performance, theatre artists category. 1991

Abbey Theatre, Dublin Jay O'Callahan performed "Coming Home To Someplace New: Pill Hill Stories" at the fourth annual Yeats International Theatre Festival. 1992

Boston Symphony Orchestra Stories of Peer Gynt and the Háry János Suite were commissioned and performed with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. 1983

UNESCO Project Participated in video collection of world's best storytellers, tentatively titled "Many Voices, One World." 1998

Glistening Waters Storytelling Festival, New Zealand Jay O'Callahan returns for festival performances in Masterton. 1996

National Geographic Society "Earth Stories" and "Sea Stories" (featuring "The Strait of Magellan") were told at the Gilbert H. Grosvernor Auditorium in two concerts for the society.1990

INDIE Award The National Association of Independent Record Distributors and Manufacturers awarded first prize to the High Windy recording of "The Boy Who Loved Frogs". 1988

ALA/Carnegie Award The American Library Association put Jay O'Callahan's "Masterclass", a video tape by Vineyard Video, on their list of videos considered essential for small and medium libraries. 1988

U.S. State Department Assignment The International Communications Agency sent Jay O'Callahan to Mauritius and Africa to give workshops to actors and directors. 1981

Ohio State Award for WGBH radio's production of Arts & Ideas: Coming Home To Someplace New which consisted of an interview with Jay O'Callahan and the American Stage Festival performance of "Glasses." 1992
