Jay Returns to Lehigh University to Perform Pouring the Sun

Jay O'Callahan

November 16th, 2008, Jay returned to Lehigh University to perform his dramatic story, Pouring the Sun. In 1996 Lehigh University commissioned Jay to create the story about Bethlehem Steel and the community of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, as "The Steel" prepared to close its doors in 1998. Jay first performed the story at Lehigh at the Steel Festival in 1999.

Jay also participated in panel discussions with artists from the community of Bethlehem. The purpose of the discussions was to talk about ways that Lehigh University can support local artists and build up community relations.

The work was a memorable experience for Jay and when he returned home, there were warm emails from audience members waiting for him. John Dobrota commented, "I must confess that I didn't have dry eyes for most of the show. Great, great, great performance."
